Captain John MacLellan Memorial Competition Information & Draws

The Army School of Bagpipe Music and Highland Drumming will again be hosting the Captain John A MacLellan Piping Championship on Saturday the 5th of October, writes WO2 P/M Peter MacGregor  

Held at Inchdrewer House within Redford Barracks, this event features some of the best solo pipers in the country with separate Piobaireachd and Light Music events in P, A, B and C grades and a Hornpipe and Jig contest open to all competitors.  In this, the 7th year of the championships, a strong entry has been received in each grade and spectators are very welcome.  

Food and beverages will be available throughout the day, so please join us at the home of Army Piping and Drumming for what promises to be a great day of competitive piping. Redford Barracks gates will be open to the public from 08:00 on the 5th. 

The draws are as follows:

2017 P Grade Champion Iain Speirs with the wnners’ trophy. It takes the form a model of Edinburgh Castle the previous home of the Army School of Piping and where John MacLellan presided with such influence for many years
  • The Hornpipe and Jig begins at 1pm approx. and features most of the above players. Results on PP as we get them.
