Established in 1932, Lochryan Pipe Band have continued to be a pivotal role within the community of Stranraer and Dumfries and Galloway, offering tutoring for beginners and competing in major championships across the UK and Ireland.
The band are currently recruiting a new Pipe Major to take over the Grade 3b band. They already have an existing pipe corps and full drum corps within the band, with players travelling from Ayrshire and the surrounding areas of Stranraer.
The band are also looking to recruit a piping tutor for the development band/learners. This would be a paid position.
Most recently, the band were 2018 Champion of Champions both for drumming and as a band in Grade 4a, successfully being upgraded to Grade 3b for season 2019. In 2018 the band also created the Lochryan Developement Band which is registered in 4b and allows teaching and development for younger players wanting to advance into the 3b band.
This band has a separate pipe major and leading drummer, however is overseen by the Grade 3b leading drummer and P/M. The band has a very big support network within the non playing committee and the local community, which helps keep the band financially stable.
Both bands are eager to continue there recent success and we feel this would be an exciting opportunity for someone within a well established band. For more information please contact secretary at lochryanpbsecretary@gmail.com
