Kilmarnock Pipe Band have sent this….

We are delighted to announce that Dave Harling has been appointed as Leading Drummer.

Dave has a wealth of experience in top level performance having spent the previous 3 years in Johnstone Pipe Band, 5 years in the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and a year in Bleary and District Pipe Band.

Dave said: “I’m delighted at having been asked to be part of the team.  Of course, I expect there to be challenges, but hope that I can help bring the drumming and the band forward and make the most of this exciting opportunity.”

Harling played alongside pipe section leaders Paul and Karen Warren during their time in the Vale of Atholl and have remained friends since, making him the prime candidate for the job.

Kilmarnock Pipe Band were upgraded from 4A to 3B last winter, and the pipe section has become a strong contender at major championships placing in the top 6 at the last 3 majors including two 2nds at the European Championships.

Pipe major Paul Warren said: “Firstly, I’d like to thank our former lead drummer Darren Mithchell for getting us up and running and through our first season, but Kilmarnock are a band that strives for continual improvement and Dave’s appointment takes us to another level. I have been impressed by his immediate contribution, especially by his scores and the positive impact this has on our ensemble performance. On behalf of the whole band I’d like to welcome Dave to the team – we’re thrilled to have him on board and excited at the possibilities of what the future may hold”.
