We are proud to announce the appointment of Grant Cassidy as Leading Drummer of their newly promoted Grade 2 band. Grant who took a fantastic fifth place in the recent World Solo Drumming Championships, will take over from his father John Cassidy, who led the drum corps to 2018 Grade 3A Champion of Champions success. John will remain with the Band as a corps player.

Grant  brings years of experience to the band having played with Shotts and Dykehead for five years before moving to St Laurence O’Toole for the last four years. He  is also a well-known member of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Pipe Major John Bowes said: ‘The Grade 3A band was only formed a year ago and had a great first season winning two championships, finishing runner-up to the Champion of Champions and being promoted to Grade 2.

‘Grant’s appointment will strengthen an already excellent back end and place us in a great position to meet the challenge of stepping up to Grade 2.’

The band’s successful first year has also resulted in the pipe section being bolstered by several experienced players. There are limited places available in the pipe section and anyone interested should contact the band via its Facebook page.
