MacGregor Memorial Announcement/ Uist & Barra Playing Order and Tunes

highland society of london logoHIGHLAND SOCIETY OF LONDON MACGREGOR MEMORIAL PIOBAIREACHD COMPETITION 2016

The MacGregor Memorial Piobaireachd competition will be held, as usual, in Oban on the first day of the Argyllshire Gathering, Wednesday 24th August 2016, writes Angus Nicol.

The competition is open to all pipers from anywhere in the world who are under 22 years of age on that date. CPA grading does not apply to this competition.

Would-be competitors may enter at www.obangames.com. Rules and competition details are documented. Should any intending competitors have any further questions, they may contact torquiltelfer@gmail.com  Entries must be submitted not later than 30th April 2016.

There will also be an MSR competition for those who play in the MacGregor and are NOT in Grade B. This will take place on the Thursday, at Mossfield Park.  Those intending to compete in this should submit three tunes of each kind and will be asked to play one of each.

John Angus added: ‘Iain Speirs gave us plenty of notice to withdraw – so we were able to invite Douglas Murray.  The competition will be streamed through the CoP internet site as last year.’
