Free Drumming Scores/ Gordon Wins Highland Games League/ Gordon Walker – More Great Pix

In a very generous gesture, leading pipe band drumming expert John Moneagle has kindly donated his scores for eight popular tunes free of charge to Piping Press readers. Each score comes with a sound file of how the tune should be played.

Access them via the Search facility and also read about John’s very distinguished career as a pipe band drummer, leading tip and drumming educator.
We’d like to thank John for this gesture underlying as it does his and our committment to piping and pipe band education.

Still with the drummers, Gus Sicard, featured in our report on the World Solo Drumming, has sent this: ‘Just wanted to confirm the ‘young piper from Inveraray’ who played for me on Saturday is Greg McAllister (related to the old Shotts McAllister family). All the best, Gus.’

Hard-working Patricia Grant has now completed her Highland Games Piping League with the addition of the results from Rosneath on Sunday. They show that Gordon McCready remains as Champion Piper in both Ceol Mor and Ceol Beag. It caps a very good year for the Renfrew-based piper who placed third in the Gold Medal at Inverness and also won the prestigious Braemar Gold Medal. Piping Press would like to offer its congratulations to all the pipers who supported the games this year – prizewinner or no. It is through your efforts that these games contests will survive for the benefit of future generations of pipers. Here is the completed table:
