St Laurence Win Scottish

Dublin’s St Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band are the new Scottish Champions!

SLoT pipped their old rivals Field Marshal Montgomery to the title, to the delight of many in the large crowd at Dumbarton.

The win was P/M Alen Tully’s first championship title since he took over from his father Terry last year. P/M Tully is pictured with his front rank up top.

Since then, SLoT have been threatening a big result and today was the day. SLoT’s outstanding drum corps, led by L/D Stephen Creighton, took the drumming title.

Runners-up Field Marshal placed a lowly eighth for drumming – a placing which cost them dear. They were first for ensemble and placed first for piping from one judge.

Third came the rejuvenated Shotts and  Dykehead Caledonia, with Scottish Power continuing their good run in 4th, Inveraray 5th and Glasgow Police 6th.

The Grade 2 title went to Bleary (Northern Ireland) with Johnstone in close attendance. Johnstone took the drumming

Northern Ireland featured strongly in the other grades with Dollar (Juvenile & Novice) and Lanark (4b) keeping Scotland’s end up.
