History of Army Piping/ RSPBA Summer School

Writer Alistair Aitken traces its origins back to the founding of the Piobaireachd Society in the days before WW1. It is a polished account of an important part of our history. THE RSPBA has announced details of its annual summer school to be held in Glasgow in August. The blurb reads: ‘For the attention of pipers and drummers aged between 10 and 25 years, who aspire to play at the highest level – a fantastic opportunity to improve your piping and drumming, to increase your enjoyment in producing music and to meet new people involved in the Pipe Band World. This year, the RSPBA Summer School will be held Glasgow Gaelic School, Berkeley Street, Glasgow and promises to be a busy event. The Summer School will cost £160.00 for and will be held over four days with a focus on teaching you the important musical knowledge and skills you require to play at the next levels….’
