Donald Maclean/Gary Nimmo/Guards KO/Peter Bain/Metro Cup

A visit to Mrs Fiona Johnston last week yielded some interesting and important additional information and memorabilia on the life and times of her uncle P/M Donald Maclean of Lewis, and this has been added to our Famous Pipers column. We are grateful to Mrs Johnston for her assistance.

Congratulations to Gary Nimmo, Ullapool schools instructor, who has taken over the Bagpipe Specialists Highland supply company from Alison Sinclair. We wish Gary well in his new venture and continued success with the school band. Read about Gary and the band in the October 2014 Pipe Band magazine.

Scots Guards KO 22 Feb.; Jimmy Banks reports: Greig Wilson narrowly won through to the next round with a solid performance against a very good and musical Scott Barrie who showed that he has tremendous potential for the future. Both pipers are to be commended for producing a really entertaining afternoon. Next up on 15 March at 4pm are Angus MacColl jnr. and Craig Sutherland; not to be missed, Tickets £10.00 with curry supper afterwards. Tickets can be bought at the door; Scots Guards Club number 01313371084.
